Climb Ben Nevis in Winter Conditions
Climbing Ben Nevis or ‘The Ben’ in winter conditions can be a challenge. Scottish winter conditions can be wild!
Take some of the stress out of your ascent of the Ben by booking an experienced guide to lead you and your group.
Climbing the Ben in winter isn’t for the faint hearted - it’s a long day - around 8-10 hours for a round trip. Conditions under foot can be hard and usually require the use of crampons. Strong winds and snow can make walking hard work and poor visibility makes navigation difficult.
The CMD Arete
For mountaineers who’ve already climbed Ben Nevis in winter, the CMD Arete provides an unforgettable challenge and a chance to see the mighty North Face of the Ben from a whole new angle.
One of our experienced leaders can guide you and your group around this difficult mountain circuit.
Who is it for?
An ascent of Ben Nevis via the mountain track is suitable for experienced summer walkers who want to summit the Ben in winter conditions.
Your guide will look take care of navigation and route choice but you should be fit enough for 8-10 hours on the mountain and have some experience of poor weather and winter walking with crampons.
If you are not sure if you have the skills, why not book a winter skills course and add an ascent of the Ben to it?
Guided trips around the CMD Arete are suitable for experienced winter walkers looking for a new challenge or those who have already summited Ben Nevis via the mountain track in winter conditions before.
